To determine the fineness of cements, pozzolanas and other powdery materials, various international specifications recommend the use of "specific area" method. In the instrument described below, air permeability method is used to determine the specific surface as total surface area in cm2/g of material. MORTAR MIXER



The apparatus consists of an epicyclic type stainless steel paddle imparting both planetary and revolving motion, by means of gears. It has two speeds of 140 5 r.p.m. and 285 10 r.p.m. with planetary motions of approximately 62 r.p.m. 5 r.p.m. and 125 r.p.m. /-10 r.p.m. respectively. The stand of the mixer has arrangement to raise or lower the bowl. Complete with stainless steel bowl of about six liters capacity. Suitable for operation on 230 volts, 50 cycles, single phase, A.C.supply

 

 

 

TILE ABRASION TESTING MACHINE



The tile sample is pressed under a specified load against a grinding path, strewen evenly with an abrasive powder, revolving at the rate of 30 ± 1 rpm. At the end of 100 revolutions of the disc, the second parallel side of the tile is subjected to wear an equal number of revolutions of the disc. The wear of the tile is measured using AIM48101 thickness measuring device (which is supplied at extra cost). The Abrasion Testing Machine consists of a replaceable grinding path, fitted on to a disc rotating about its vertical axis. The rotating disc and the grinding path are enclosed by a circular tray. A bracket holds the specimen. The loading is by a counterbalanced lever. A funnel is provided to facilitate charging the grinding path with abrasive powder. Supplied complete with automatic pre-set revolution counter and one 7.5 kg weight, but without abrasive powder and thickness measuring device.

 

VEE BEE CONSISTOMETER



The testing machine is used for workability as well as consistency of fresh concrete. A slump cone and a graduated rod supplied with the instrument helps the operator to find out slump values and Vibration Table with container and acrylic disc is used to find out workability of concrete expressed in Vee Bee degrees, which is defined as the time in seconds to complete required vibrating at which the fresh concrete flows out sufficiently to come in contract of the entire face of acrylic disc.

The equipment consists of : A Vibrating Table size 380 mm long and 260 mm wide resting upon elastic support at a height of about 305 mm above the floor, complete with star /slop Switch, Chord and Plug. A holder is fixed to the base into which a swivel arm is telescoped with funnel and guide sleeve. The swivel arm is also detachable form the Vibrating Table. A graduated rod is fixed on a swivel arm and at its end a plastic disc is screwed. The divisions of scale on the rod record the slump of the concrete in millimeters. Supplied complete with a sheet metal container with lifting handles which can easily be fixed to the Vibrating Table. A slump cone open at both ends with lifting handles and a Tamping rod of size 16 mm diameter and 600 mm long rounded at one end.

AGGREGATE CRUSHING VALUE APPARATUS



Aggregate crushing value test on coarse aggregates gives a relative measure of the resistance of an aggregate crushing under gradually applied compressive load. Crushing value of aggregates indicates its strength. Lower crushing value is recommended for roads and pavements as it indicates a lower crushed fraction under load and would give a longer service life and a more economical performance.

The aggregates used in roads and pavement construction must be strong enough to withstand crushing under roller and traffic.

LE-CHATELIERMOULD APPARATUS



Made from a brass spring tensioned split cylinder having internal diameter of 30 by 30 mm high, with two pointers 150 mm long. Chromed finishing. 

Used to determine the cement expansion (soundness) either in cold or boiling water.

The apparatus consist of a small split cylinder of spring brass or other non-corrodible metal of 0.5 mm thickness forming a mould 30 mm internal diameter and 30 mm high. On either side of the split, two indicators are brazed suitably with pointed ends made of 2 mm diameter brass wire in such a way that the distance of these ends to the centre of the cylinder is 165 mm. The split cylinder will be kept between two glass plates.

 

MUFFLE FURNACE



With sillimanite muffle with smooth internal surface, imported KANTHAL A-1 heating elements are provided all around the heating chamber backed by ceramic fiber insulation.  A safety protection fuse is to be provided. A simple flap type of door with a spy hole for viewing the Chamber.

DIRECT SHEAR TEST APPARATUS ELECTRONIC



The Direct Shear test is carried out with an apparatus consisting of a square divided into two halves. The specimen, contained in the box, is subjected to a constant normal load while an increasing horizontal force is applied to one of the sections of the shear box. This force causes a shear failure along the junction between the box sections. The shear force and the normal load are measured directly. The rate of strain is adjusted by the speed of the horizontal force applied. The loading unit has V-strips on which the shear box housing rests.

Suitable for specimens of size 60x60x25mm.

The pre-calibrated load yoke helps counter balance the loading system. The load yoke with direct and through lever system for applying normal load upto 3 kg/cm2 capacity, fixtures for proving ring, brackets for holding consolidation and strain dial gauges are provided. The lead screw connected to the shear box housing helps application of shear stress.

PROVING RING TYPE UNCONFINED COMPRESSION TEST APPARATUS



Determination of soil shear strength is essential for designing the foundation of structures, soil and soil retaining structures, soil slopes, etc., Shear strength of soil depends on various factors and insitu soil conditions. Therefore, when laboratory tests in soil are performed to evaluate shear strength of soil, the insitu soil conditions and other factors should be simulated for obtaining meaningful results.

For example, the Unconsolidated Undrained test on soil will yield the undrained strength, which can be used for finding the immediate stability of an excavation,
whereas a consolidated undrained test with measurement of pore pressure can be used to evaluate the effective strength parameters of soil for designing the long term stability of an earth fill dam. It is well known that the engineering behaviour of soil depends on the effective stress
and not the total stress.

The effective stress can be calculated by measuring the total stress and substracting the pore water pressure from it.
To cater to the needs of shear strength determination of soil we have various range of equipments

MOTORIZED SIEVE SHAKER



Carries upto 7 sieves of 200mm or 300m, 450mm diameter. The shaker is driven by a ¼H.P. Motor through a reduction gear immersed in oil. The sieve table does not rotate but is inclined from the vertical axis and the direction on inclination charges progressively in clockwise direction. If the stop pin below the table is removed, the shaker can have a rotary motion. In addition to this gyratory motion of the table, there is an upward and downward movement ensuring that each square cm of the sieve is utilized. A pair of rods and a holder are supplied. The holder can be fixed on the top of the upper most sieve, and thus the sieve set in firmly held. Suitable for operation form 230 V, 50 Hz Single Phase A.C. Supply.
